CHANDIGARH: Dharinder Kumar Tayal, another syndic, said use of social networking sites could end up harming school children as they were often gullible and had impressionable minds, but university students were smart enough to steer clear of their ill-effects.
Students residing on the campus feel social networking sites are a medium to communicate with friends and allowing access to them is something that won’t lead to nuisance on the campus.
“We have been surfing these sites in cyber-cafes within the university campus. These cyber-cafes are excluded from the purview of the policy. So what difference does it make if we surf these sites on our laptops sitting in the hostels?” wondered law student Shrishti.
